A Story of Teen Pregnancy
This is a fictional story about One Girl's Struggle with a Tough Life Decision - Just wondering if any of you have similar stories and would like to share.
Sandra knew the news would be difficult for James to take. Every time she started to think of how she would tell him, a million excuses replaced her resolve to do so. Absently wandering down the dusty dirt path, she thought of the myriad of possible reactions she would get from him... 'Are you sure it's mine?' 'How did this happen?' 'Are you gonna keep it?' The possible directions were endless but he had shown his true character by abusing her repeatedly. 'What might he do with a child?', Sandra thought to herself. She was only 17, after all, and he hadn't even told her he loved her. How could she expect that he would welcome a child into the relationship? They had only two months together, and at least twice the number of arguments than times of shared intimacy in any form. One thing she knew for certain, was that she wanted to keep the baby, unlike her mother before her. Maybe that was what was troubling her....She knew James would not want this baby, and that she would be forced to fight him over the fact. Crossing the rickety bridge, and burning with self contempt, she stared out at the water down below. For a brief, intrepid moment, she considered the unthinkable, but quickly heard a tiny voice from deep within. "You are my mommy. You are all I really need. And you need me as well." It was that moment of clarity that opened Sandra's eyes forever. As she approached the other end of the bridge, her eyes locked on the large street sign looming ahead. To the left was Triangle Lane, and James' house. To the right was Carboro Lane, and a way out. She confidently took the right hand turn. As she walked hastily forward toward her destiny, her heart changed. With renewed self confidence, Sandra climbed up the wooden steps to the train depot. As she leaned against the depot wall, waiting on the train to her future, she tilted her head down and whispered softly to her little one...... "We are gonna be just fine, baby girl. You wait and see."
