ban hugging in schools?

not sure if Shabooya bot post this or not but where i live at this princelpai (sp) wants to ban hugging in schools. to me it's no big deal. i mean when your friend had a day of hell last night what are suppose to do? just look them in the eys and say "aww i'm sorry to hear about that" (which some kids do)

but come on, ban hugging in school? i don't see whats wrong with this. i had many friends as girls that wanted a hug and i would give them a hug and it would make their day.

now if was a teacher hugging a student that i can understand. some schools have ban students hugging teachers in the last day of school or before christmas break.

what do you guys think of this?

I think it's stupid! I have many bad days, and the hugs that I get at school from my friends make it a lot better. I can't believe they are wanting to ban that. Now the teacher hugging thing I could understand. But NOT students. That's just stupid!
=[
=[
=[
I hope they don't go through with it there, or here too.
Having no kind of physical contact can be bad on a person.

I heard about a school that gave a girl a detention for hugging (I can't remember if it was for hugging her mother or a friend), but it made NO SENSE.

Unfortunately in today's world, we have forgotten common sense, and replaced it with these knee-jerk policies meant to 'help'....but something tells me this kind of stuff will just cause more problems. Touching/hugging/comforting/etc is an important part of development.....it helps people better understand social relationships, learn/improve empathy, and build stronger relationships.

It seems like people complain about kids playing too many video games and not socializing, but what kind of message are they sending with this kind of a rule? It is a HUG! I can't begin to understand why they do this.....has there been a flood of law suits for 'inappropriate hugging'.

Someone needs to give these people a reality check.

I agree 100%. There is no reason that they should ban it. I think it's a selfish act. I don't see any wrong in hugging, now...making out in the halls or something, and groping each other, I can understand that...NOT HUGGING!

I also agree on the development, I would be so sad if I couldn't hug anyone.

I think it's totally stupid!! AS a teacher however, I do have to be careful, I try my best to remain cautious but some kids are so klingy and every day they seem me want to hug me. It's sort of uncomfortable only because I don't want anyone to "say" or "assume" anything you know because of these stupid law suites. In our culture where I live hugging is custom here.. so fat chance they'd get away with it.... but did you hear about them wanting to ban Santa Clause in malls and everywhere from saying Ho, Ho, Ho and change it to Ha, Ha, HA!!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!

Yup, high school.

Teacher by day counselor by night, many hats I wear. LOL

I heard that on a radio show about Santa. Will see if I can find anything on that. It didn't seem it was a joke listening to it. That would be so wrong!

That's my problem too. I tend to be very cautious about this stuff because I work with mostly girls/women, and I don't want anything to be mistaken for something else.
