Hmmm, either gummy bears on our pizza
or mint ice cream sandwiches with dorritos That was my cousins and my favorite thing. Other than that,,,,,, I guess that would be calamari. My family used to eat snakes, but I don't think they could ever get me to eat one.

I am so funny...
okay lets see..... I did not and do not have a problem with the fact that Rocky Mountain Oysters are tasty... we ate them right off the branding iron grill. Rocky Mountains oysters - also known as prairie oysters, Montana tendergroins, cowboy caviar, swinging beef, and calf fires - are true Western delicacies... we also ate sheep oysters Cowboy Caviar.... yep I am a cowgirl at heart I don't recommend trying RMO in a restaurant, they use big ol' bull balls and they are not nearly as good..... |

ewww, Oysters are so not right.....
I worked in a restaurant where we had them flown in dailey. They are just ewwww. Too bad you didn't work there we got to eat them for free. or they did anywho... My cat would get lots of caviar.

OMG...Done, I can't believe that you didn't know what a joey was.
Eating weird things..... When I lived in Seattle, the neighbor would always bring us deer meat...which I could eat....then he brought turtle, so I tried it...made turtle soup. Then he brought rabbit and goat meat.....................needless to say, it went in the trash and I put up a fence!!

Finally - Jellybeanz sees this thread!
You know ... the most AMAZING thing that I discovered when reading this thread, is that Miss Done has actually been LISTENING to some of the things that I've said!!!
(LOL - just kidding Done!!) VEGEMITE is very very YUMMY! ![]() But yeah ... it seems that anyone outside of AUSTRALIA doesnt really get what it's all about. It IS an aquired taste, and those people who arent familiar with it, tend to spread it really thickly and put loads and loads on their bread/toast, when all you really need is a thin spread on your bread. It's way too salty to use alot of it. But a thin spread of VEGEMITE on hot, buttery toast is very YUMMY!!! LOOKIE - You can even get VEGEMITE in a TUBE!!! When you eat vegemite, you definitely have to be in the mood for something savoury - if you are all prepared to taste something like JAM or HONEY, or peanut butter, you are going to be verrrrry disappointed! You have to be having a craving for something salty like Bar-B-Q or salt and vinegar cornchips/crisps before eating vegemite - if you want something sweet, then Vegemite isnt going to go down well). Another thing that Vegemite is really good for, is soups and stews! If you put a teaspoon of Vegemite into your mixture when you are cooking a stew, casserole or soup, it really brings out the flavour of your food. It can be used instead of stock cubes/liquid. As for this 'Vegemix' I've never heard of it ... but here in AUSSIE-LAND there are so many rip-off brands of Vegemite, and this Vegemix could have been one of them. Marmite is a rip off of Vegemite! As for kangaroo meat, or 'roo meat' as its often called when sold in shops here ... ![]() mostly in commercial stores, roo meant IS used for pet food - for cats and dogs. My cats like it, although it does tend to be a bit too rich for my female moggy cat - it always gives her diarrohea! As for using roo meat for HUMAN consumption, well ... some 'exotic' or more alternative stores and butchers will sell roo meat for use in cooking, and some places out in the bush rely on roo meat as a regular part of their diet (it's very low in fat!) but you dont see it very often in groceries or supermarkets here in the suburbs, except roo meat that is for animal consumption. And then, they DYE the roo meat with a blue tinge, so you KNOW its not for human consumption, so there's no mix up. Roo meat can contain alot of diseases, so it needs to be treated really carefully before humans can eat it. While searching the net, I even found some kangaroo meat recipes! RECIPES: Kangaroo Tail Soup Kangaroo Fillet and Mesclun Salad Stack Kangaroo Spinach & Prosciutto Rolls Frenched Rack with a Compote of Fruits Kangaroo Fillet with Spring Vegetables Medallions with black sesame & mustard seeds champagne, apricot and fresh mint sauce Kangaroo Medallions with Spinach and Champignons mmmmm! ... is your mouth watering yet??? And yes - the kangaroo IS one of the animals on our national emblem. There's the kangaroo on the left hand side. The emu is on the right ........ (well D'UH Jellybeanz!!!) ![]() We Aussies can also eat EMU MEAT too, except its kinda in the same league as kangaroo meat, in that most regular people dont eat it ... only those who are into more alternative food. And you dont see emu meat in the shops here either. I hear that emu eggs are supposed to be really good to use in some cakes, coz they are rich and very HUGE!!! So that's it for Miss Jellybeanz' lesson on 'Aussie Culture 101.' Stay tune for 'Aussie Lingo 102' and 'Making love Down Under - the advanced course' And thanks to Miss Done for letting me know about this thread! |

I would think that kangi meat would be very tough, with all that jumping around that they do. Or maybe that serves as tenderizing!

Well, maybe I will have to keep talking about Hayley to try and
manipulate her into posting more. LoLIf not, I will take my high pitched voice and call her on the phone and bug here more. Or I'll stalk her at Myspace instead. ![]() Or maybe I'll do all three.
