'Using Dreams'
I keep having them lately. Anyone else? I read that your dreams are a way of dealing with what is going on with you when your awake. That you need to dream in order to figure out problems you are dealing with.
Interesting concept. Does anyone else go through or gone through this. Do you actually use your drug of choice in your dreams? I've never used in my dreams, I just struggle in them, and seem to ponder the thought of using, but I always pass on it. I don't think I could do that in real life yet. I couldn't be around meth, even the bags I've found freak me out.......... arghh ![]()

Using dreams are normal. They're damn scary but it's normal. Even almost 3 years later I have them. Just a reminder of where I don't want to go I suppose.

Zzzzzzzzz
Dreams can be really weird!
I havent had any real urges to drink alcohol (my DOC) in a LOOOOONG TIME, yet I have FREQUENT dreams where either I am drinking, or I am TRYING to find alcohol to drink. And when I have these sorts of dreams, they tend to focus alot on the reactions of my friends and family, and how disappointed and ashmamed they are of me, as I am of myself. It's often such a RELIEF to wake up and realise that I AM still SOBER, and that I havent actually started drinking again. Lately I've been wondering why I still have so many dreams where I am drinking, or hanging out to drink ... yet in real life, unless I am extremely stressed (which doesnt happen too often), I haveno conscious desire to drink, NOR do I feel seriously tempted to drink! Giving it some thought over the past couple of days though, I think my dreams are trying to give me a similar message to what Chy said in her post .... in that the reason why I think I have these dreams, is to remind me of the HORROR that was my day to day life when I was caught up in drinking every day ... and these dreams make me even more determined to stay away from alcohol, and to NEVER EVER end up in that sort of HORROR of a life, EVER AGAIN!! Being nearly 6 years sober now, I have that natural tendency to forget how bad it was when I was in the tight grip of my alcoholism ... bad not only for me, but for my family - especially my parents! I believe that these dreams are a way of reminding myself to never become complacent about my recovery ... that all it would take is a few drinks to get me back in that same HELL that I was in before, and I NEVER want to be like that ... or put my friends and family through that, EVER AGAIN!!! That's what I believe is the purpose of these sorts of dreams anyway. I dont hold much faith in those 'dream interpretation' books that provide a generic, 'one size fits all', explanation of people's dreams and what they mean. I think that the meaning of someone's dream is such a personal thing that cant be interpreted by another person, but can only be figured out by the person who has the dream. Sometimes the person might need a professional to assist them in exploring the different elements of the dream and what it means to the individual in question ... but in the end, I believe that each individual themselves are the only ones who can discover what their dreams are trying to tell them. Also .... I dont believe that every dream is of great importance. I think that some dreams are just a way for the brain to re-hash through the past days/weeks .. figure out what's important and what's not ... and to chuck out the irrelevent material. For me, I get this certain indescribeable 'feeling' for which dreams of mine are important and meant to tell me something. Good night everyone!!!

Thank you Miss Done!!!I had yet ANOTHER boozy dream last night! Oh GOD it was AWFUL! It took me a good 30 mintues to stop crying, to wake up properly, and realise that I HADNT really started drinking again nor had I broken my 6 year sober streak!!! It was so bizarre ... it felt SO REAL!!! I even had that yucky, alcohol aftertaste in my mouth (the ole 'bottom of the bird's cage' taste!) In this dream I was so drunk that I was having alcoholic blackouts IN the dream, and I couldnt remember how I got to a certain place, or what I did etc etc ... all the same old scary sh*t that was a day to day occurance for me when I was still drinking ....But this is the really weird part ... When I woke up .... and for the first few hours of the morning, I actually HAD a HANGOVER! Now this is a rock-solid, honest-to-god HANGOVER ... despite the fact, that I only DREAMED that I had been drinking!!! :EMODISDis How STRANGE is THAT?!?!?! Can anyone relate? |

How's the hangover girl? Better yet? I can relate kind of, I have 'awake' moments where I feel like I just did a line, and then I start craving them. But I'm awake. I had a dream last night that I got stuck in Mexico and started getting attacked, it was kind of 'Jarring' today to get myself to remember that it didn't really happen. I still have a hard time shaking the dream of being in the meth lab though. Some of these dreams lately are so intense. They bug me....... Drink some water girl!!! Eat something healthy. No hangovers for you!! ![]()

I have hangovers after my using dreams to! Power of the mind I suppose. I had one fairly recently and didn't wake up all freaked out like I normally do though I did feel sick to my stomach and headache. I'm afraid to say they're getting less intense as the moment I say that I'll have a doozy! But yeah JB.. I get that to......and I love those colors darling! *LOL*
