Relapse

If we’re contemplating a relapse, we should think our using through to the bitter ends. For many of us, those ends would include severe medical problems, imprisonment, or even death. How many of us have known people who relapsed after many years clean, only to die from their disease?

But there is a death that accompanies a return to active addiction that may be worse than physical death. That is the spiritual death we experience when we are separated from our Higher Power. If we use, the spiritual relationship we have nurtured over the years will weaken and perhaps disappear. We will feel truly alone.

There is no doubt that we have periods of darkness in our recovery. There is only one way we can make it through those troubling times: with faith. If we believe that our Higher Power is with us, then we know that all will be well.

No matter how badly we may feel in our recovery, a relapse is never the answer. Together, we find recovery. If we stay clean, the darkness will lift and we will find a deeper connection to our Higher Power.

Just for today: I thank my Higher Power for the gift of NA. I know that relapse is not the way out. Whatever challenges I face, I will face them with the God of my understanding.

I have no clue if there is even a higher power out there....I'm not trying to bring down people's religion, it's just that I have always been teaching myself that if there was a God out there, he didn't deserve to put up with my crap you know???



I dunno it's hard to explain. =/

Nochy, If you believe there is a higher power out there, than there is.

There is no way for human being to fathom that man kind was just created out of the blue. That's why we have faith.

Remember if you believe, there is. Whom ever you believe in is testing you. Right now, I'd say you're winning. You're still living.

You know I used to wonder to about "why God...." and someone once told me or I read it somewhere it's not that he/she/it "LETS" it all happen it's that he is walking with us while it is all happening. I have to believe that's the way it works or I'd be filled with huge resentments and that takes me to bad places. Hang in there Nochy... we get ya!

Oh, I'm sorry sweetie, didn't meant to scare you. I didn't relapse, but I do believe my 'Higher Power' made me find this because I've been dealing with a lot, and the option of me using is always there. I'm not really sure how I just made it through what I just did in the way I did. I guess you could say I set myself up in my past actions to make it through the present.

I did revisit one old familiar self harm pattern, not cutting, because I knew I wouldn't be able to stop, something else, and I'll tell you it didn't help, didn't make anything any better, didn't change my situation, didn't take away any feelings I had, it just 'hurt' me. And it took my time and energy away from problem solving to 'solve' the actual problem.
Soon after, I found this, I was 'looking' for help to get my head out of where I was, I just didn't know how to get out.
If you let your higher power help you, I believe it always does.

I think that things can only be real to us if we believe in them.
If you don't believe in a higher power it probably isn't going to
be there for you.
But that doesn't mean it's not there.

I am not sure..... But there is someone who helps me ever since I found him, you may want to look him up, He is on My Space, his name is
The Tatooed Preacher.

lol, He is a "Preacher" and he's Christian I believe, but I don't know something about him...... He's sent me some messages, a few personal messages, and I read and watch his live stuff sometimes.
I'm not a big 'Religious' person, so I was very hesitant when he asked me to add him. And I sure didn't think his words would help me.
I have a hard time forgiving myself, for a lot of things, and that's changed some since listening to him.

Yup, another post I agree with, God/Higher Power wants us to grow and reach our full potential. It's virtually impossible to grow if everything stays stagnant and in our control.

My church isn't too "religous." They preach about God, but once it comes down to taking the actions that God wants, no one does it. Our preacher treats people like ****, and so religion has never been used as a recovery method for me. I was always grown up in churches like that.

Religion is defined as a way of doing something; something done on a regular basis. Faith is a set of beliefs, and morals that one believes in. Faith is described as religious because attending church is a religious action, it's done on a regular basis.

You don't have to attend 'church' (I'm using the term church loosely as a term for all gatherings of any faith) to believe, to have faith.

It's not too late to use your faith, your beliefs as a support system. For some, not all this helps in the recovery process, but for others it doesn't. Use what ever works best for ya.
