How cannabis affected me

I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 5 years old and was prescribed methylphenidate which did help me focus in school, but I was alot more irritable and would get in to a few fights every school year. My grades started getting really bad around puberty. From 7th to 10th grade I had failed several classes each year. In the summer between 10th and 11th grade I stopped taking my Concerta and Ritalin and began smoking more marijuana. In the 11th grade I won an award with a monitary prize for most improved GPA. I hadn't failed a class in 11th grade or the first semester of 12th grade, then I quit smoking because I was trying to enlist in the Air Force and failed 2 out of my 4 classes. I believe that I was an apethetic angsty kid who didnt care about anything, but marijuana made everything more interesting, including school work.

I am not advocating the use of any illegal substances, I am just telling my story.

That's different. I failed my classes because of pot, but speed helps me pass. Little reverse, lol

So Spiral, how's it working for you now at this point in your life? Do you feel the same now as you did then? I applaud your courage in sharing your story.

It's fair to say I think that each of us addicted types have always convinced ourselves that our d.o.c. is what allowed us to succeed, when in truth it's what we have within. We delude ourselves into believing it is what gave us that courage until we realize we can't find that courage any longer without it. That's when we know we've been sucked in to the life of addiction, when we loose all sense of self and our ability to control our life without our drug of choice.

Chy said it really well.
I know that you can succeed without any drugs. I once dated a fella years and years ago that felt that he too worked better, played the guitar better and other things, when he was stoned. He just could not see the long-term negative effects that it was having on his life.

Keep us posted
