I don't know, I can see both sides. But I wonder if it was more of a Rape crime
or more of a Jailbate crime. I guess I'd have to see the tape to decide really, but if it was more of a jailbate crime, then I personally don't think he should have to register as a sex offender. I think they need to change the whole sex register thing anyway and the way it is done, this man and a violent rapist would be put into the same category once he has to register, that makes him a hated man to anyone who can look him or his address up on the net. Also seems like it would have been more beneficial to put a 17 year old into some sort of pyschiatrict place or something like that and get 2-10 years of therapy instead of a jail where God knows what can happen to him. Good article Kellieeee ![]()

you are so right, done.....a good friend of mine just got out of prison, he spent 4 years on a rape sentence, for sleeping with a 14 year old girl when he was 17.......
while i agree this is wrong, the girl admitted to consenting, and in my opinion they were both underage...... now he is a registered sex offender, he is not legally permitted to be around his own child, his entire life is ruined because of something he did before he could legally buy cigarettes.........he is a good friend of my families and i can't even have him over for dinner, because of my children....... something has to change..... |

Quote:
If a serial rapist, a violent rapist, a pedofile, etc. wants to rape again he's going to do it, registering is not going to stop him, he should not get out of jail in the first place. And the ones who were never even guilty in the first place are also suffering, .........I agree it was wrong, but at 17 give them therapy, for 4 years, don't put him jail and then punish for the rest of his life, it makes no sense to me, your just asking for him to become a criminal when you treat them like a criminal forever. That itself is a crime. We are spending billions upon billions of dollars in this war, while are own are losing the battle.......... If we took 1/4 of the money spent on the war to reform our systems here think of the possibilities..........

I agree with done, dump the current system. It is seriously flawed.
We certainly need to learn how to better deal with serious sex offenders, it is a horrendous mental affliction, it also passed down the generations, threads of it run through many of our families. Hard to imagine that we have to approach all sides with compassion. It is wrong and it should not be tolerated in our society, but there must be better ways to deal with it. But I don't see how people can sit silently by while young boys, guilty of nothing more than raging teenage hormones get labeled and incarcerated, scarred for life. That is just plain wrong. I have seen how the system works and it is corrupt. Just talking about it, acknowledging that it is a serious problem and that it actually exists, is taking action. |
