Where are you from?
Me.. El Paso, Tx. Southwest Texas on the border of Juarez, Mexico. 15 minutes from Mexico and 20 minutes from New Mexico. Dry, hot, sandy, dusty, but we do have the most beautiful sunsets nearly every day!

Northern NJ. People always bust on NJ, but it was a great place to grow up.
Now i'm in sunny Southern FL....though I probably won't stay here. I'm looking to move out west (S. or N. Cali or New Mexico are front runners). Maybe Chy and I will be neighbors! -p

Born and raised in none other than the 313 (otherwise known as Detroit). What a wonderful ... crime ridden, run down, smog filled city. Bah, it ain't all that bad ... it kinda grows on ya after so long. Once you get used to the crime, sirens, smog and horrid sites ... it's actually almost beautiful here. Its definately got character ... I don't know where else you can go where you can go for miles and see nothing but barred/boarded up buildings that are still open for business and see houses that look like they should be condemned with little kids playing in the front yard. If you can look past the outside it really is a pretty beautiful city though.

Wjat a nice way to get to know each other a bit -- outside of the drama of our lives. So, have some fun. Brag a bit about your home town!
I'm from the Ocean State - Rhode Island, USA. It's real name is: The State of Rhode Island and the Providence Plantations. Roger Williams founded it after it was *suggested* he leave the Massachuttes Bay Colony. Seems he had this funny notion that people should be able to worship as they please, and that the American Indians should be paid for their land that the colonists were taking over! Imagine that! Why, it's downright crazy thinking!!! Rhode Island never did become the land of the Providence Plantations, as Williams invisioned. The climate only allows for one growing season, and the soil is too rockey for financially successful plantations. In recent years, there has been a political movement to erase the word, Plantations, from our name. While I understand the personal feelings involved in this movement, I personally, am against it. We cannot erase history. Williams vision had nothing to do with the plantations that developed in the south. Thus, to erase this part of our name, and our heritage, would be no different than what Communist governments have done through the ages - rewrite history to make it "clean." Bad idea from this history teacher's perspective. The State of Rhode Island and the Providence Plantations has an honored place in our country's history. We were the first to declare our independence from England, on May 4th, (which happens to be my son's birthday! ) We fired the first shots of the Revolution, when we attacked the Gatsby. And because of the ornery people in "Rogues Island," we have the Bill of Rights attached to our Constitution. Seems our "rogues" refused to give to the new government of the USA those rights they had fought against the British for. Yes, the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution are there because RI refused to sign onto the Constitution until they were added. So, the next time you can assemble with your friends, read a newspaper, express your religious beliefs, own a gun and so much more, remember The State of Rhode Island and the Providence Plantations. And thank our "rogues." And do come and visit us. We have the best ocean beaches; the Folk Festival, the Jazz Festival; Newport with the summer "cottages" of the 19th C elete; Newport Creamery ice cream; real clam bakes, (an honest to G*D treat if you've never experience it - cooked on rocks with seaweed!); hot action at the clubs in Providence and Newport; and too much more to list. Let me know if you come for a visit - I'll show ya the "insider's view!" Bet ya never thought you'd get a history lesson on this forum, huh? Well, remember, I said to brag a bit!!! L'Shana Tova! (For a good year!)

I'm from sunny old England.
I like in the midlands, just south of Englands second largest city Birmingham, where I was born. I've lived in the town of Redditch all my life, and its very boring, there isnt anything to do except hang around or go to a pub if your old enough, although they are building a cinema (should be finished in feb) and thats about it. May be moving to australia temporarily to live with my aunt, but nothings definate until i can get a job and buy (expensive) plane tickets.

Akron, Ohio here. Home of the good ole' rubber companies, soap box derby, the Goodyear blimp and Dr. Bob!! Dr. Bob is the founder of AA, in case some of you youngsters didn't know that. Lived in Palm Springs, Ca. for a couple of years, then moved to Gold Bar, Wa. (and loved it), but returned to Akron because of family. It's a nice place but I sure miss Puget Sound.
