Yoga Journal: Dial it Down
Ever experience a racing heart... dry mouth... sweaty palms...pounding headache awful feeling of tightness in your throat?
The stress response, also known as "fight or flight," is probably one you know well from one or more of its telltale symptoms. The stress response is instinctive, and being in a state of overdrive can sometimes helps you overcome difficult challenges. But allowing yourself to spend a lot of time in full throttle can, over time, contribute to serious health problems like ulcers or high blood pressure.
Short of heading to a spa for an early retirement, how do you dial it down when life overwhelms? Yoga, which supports healthy eating habits and keeps you fit, strong, and energized, is also an extremely effective answer to our fight or flight mechanism. Over time, a complete yoga practice (postures, breathing, meditation and focused relaxation) builds what doctors call "stress hardiness," the ability to quickly assert some control over your response to stressful triggers. Yoga works by training you to quickly recognize and then ratchet down the stress response before it lodges you in a harmful state of overdrive.

And its funny how it`s the simple things in life that mean the most

Raise you glasses for a toast
To a little bit of chicken fried
